JKSSB FAA English is MCQ-only — no essay. You win marks by labeling words quickly and eliminating wrong options. Start with the four parts that appear in almost every grammar item.
Nouns and verbs
- Noun — names a person, place, thing, or idea (candidate, Srinagar, budget).
- Verb — shows action or state (submit, was, has cleared).
Exam trick: find the verb first, then ask “who/what does it?” — that subject is usually a noun phrase.
Adjectives and adverbs
- Adjective — describes a noun (written exam, difficult question).
- Adverb — describes a verb, adjective, or another adverb (quickly answered, very difficult).
Many JKSSB items swap adjective/adverb (“He answered quick” → quickly).

Mastery checks
Pass each skill by answering correctly on 2 of 3 checks (fewer if fewer are available). Retry wrong answers until you succeed.
Wrong answers show the FAA −0.25 penalty as a reminder — mastery still allows retries.
